A talented work force for all sectors

Cambridge residents are a world leading workforce. With 65% educated to a degree level that's over 185,000 residents offering degree level skills or above.

Within the sub-region, East Cambridgeshire is highly adept with a large proportion of those in employment (50%+) occupying managerial, professional and technical positions. 21% of the resident workforce is employed in administrative, secretarial and skilled trades. The remainder of the resident workforce (30%) are employed in care, leisure and service occupations including process plant and machine operatives.

With over 35% of the workforce qualified to NVQ level four or above the region has an exceptionally strong pool of well qualified and highly sought after people that matches the wider Cambridgeshire area as a great location to recruit.

Access to high calibre graduates

Businesses based in the area have access to a labour market boosted by the drive and talent from the regions universities providing over 30,000 graduates each year stimulating research, innovation and skills.

The region is also part of the UK’s number one area for commercial Research and Development spend, accounting for 25% of the national total.

With close proximity to the world famous University of Cambridge and regionally important Anglia Ruskin Campus employers and students have access to the best higher educational facilities in the world.

Anglia Ruskin University is one of the largest universities in the East of England and home to over 35,000 students across three campuses in Cambridge, Peterborough and Chelmsford. It was recently named UK Entrepreneurial University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards.
